When Love Has an Epiphany

This is an interesting concept, so let’s talk about what an epiphany is. I sometimes call it a light bulb moment or an “aha” moment.

Epiphany: A sudden moment of clear understanding or realization where you recognize something you did not fully see before.

Revelation: A striking disclosure of something you did not realize you were lacking until it appeared.

Unconscious Expectation: Recognizing that a quiet, unvoiced desire was present inside you all along, only after something arrives and reveals it.

I think of Maya Angelou’s quote, “When you know better, do better.” Internal awareness comes in layers. I always say it is like peeling an onion.

You may have an epiphany or realization inside yourself then think that’s the end, and it is not. It’s a rabbit hole sometimes.

Patterns and hidden emotions are sneaky. If you think you’re done? You’re usually not. Life is a continuous experience. As long as you are alive, you are learning.

I think one of the harshest lessons for me about an epiphany was that once you see what you did not have in your life, or what you didn’t you know you needed, whether it be love, passion, desire, fun, play, or joy, you can’t unsee or unknow it. It’s a new level of seeing clearly. You may not have even known that you were lacking in your life until love shines its light. On the other end, you can also realize something about yourself that may not be that great, possibly a way you’ve been most of your life that isn’t serving you anymore or maybe a personality trait that needs to be changed that you had no awareness of or that you were even doing it.

That is how love worked in my life. I thought I was totally fine. Living life the way I always had, unbeknownst to me, in survival mode. I was perfectly fine, didn’t even know what I was missing. It was blissful denial.

Then life shows you a completely different way. A different choice. You can then look internally at whether your fear of change will keep you stuck or whether you’ll find the courage to break free and actually have the very thing you possibly really want.

Sometimes it is not so bad where we are. We can accept it, live with it, or make it work. The issue is, now that you have seen and felt what could be, can you stay in what was? Is it what your heart really wants?

Can you feel the aliveness within you and go back to not having it?

I say it is like eating sirloin steak and then having filet; now that you’ve had it, you know the difference.

This is awareness. Now you know. Now you know that maybe you have sacrificed yourself and your happiness. Maybe you settled. Maybe life is just boring and you have no passion. Maybe you always put another first and forgot yourself. But now that you know, what are you going to do about it? This requires change and we humans don’t like that.

Our minds start to make stories up to keep us stuck and in fear.

Once you begin to see clearly inside yourself or outside in your world, you cannot blame or deny. This is the challenge.

Awareness means waking up and being fully responsible for yourself and your life.

Life tries to show you where your highest purpose is, but it is always up to you to find the courage to step into your greatest self. The one you have stuffed, denied, forgotten, avoided or not allowed to fully exist. The real you.

Who would you be if you lived in balance? Not just in your head, not just in your heart but in coherence.

What if you allowed yourself to be happy?

This is what my focus is on currently.

Lots of joy, fun, passion, desire, silliness and love. Exactly what I spent most of my life without.

The more epiphanies I have, the more I open up and the more I see where I have been in survival mode. I’m still the same but yet I’m improved and upgraded.

Today I am brave and the awareness is easy. Tomorrow it may be harder, but I still need to show up, have courage and fight a dragon. 🐉

Because love is worth fighting for even when you don’t know how or why or what you will do or how it will turn out. You just have to show up.

It all starts with an epiphany that shows you where you were living without love and you didn’t even know it until you opened your eyes and woke up.

You might need some sunglasses from living in the dark for such a long time.

I have at least 6 pairs.. xo
